Fix your Facebook group

29 September 2022

Facebook groups have a bad reputation for causing arguments and spreading controversial news, this of course doesn’t always have to be the case with good Facebook group management to ensure everyone follows the correct group guidelines!

Facebook Groups are a great strategy for a business to implement as it is an easy way to build a sense of community. On this page, you can share exclusive brand news, discounts, and offers and also promote posts that may help to generate sales! Facebook groups enable you to easily reach your target audience as the people who join the group are actively engaging with your brand. This means that any content you share will have a high likelihood of being received well!

On Facebook groups, it will also be easier to gain organic reach as your group followers will receive a notification whenever you post! They can also then choose to share your content to their personal page which will help to boost your content!

With Facebook Groups you are able to either have them open to the public which would mean that you have lesser control over who can join and potentially what can be shared. Alternatively, you can keep your group private so that you can review the members who wish to join so that you know the viewers you’ll be reaching out to. It allows you to control membership and filter out spam bots while still being publicly discoverable by your target market.

One of the most important things to do when you create your Facebook Group is to establish a code of conduct. It would be worth taking the time to think about the kind of behavior/activity that you will allow. Will you allow people to post or ask questions? By stating your rules up front, you set the tone of the group’s behavior. If anyone in the group displays behavior that goes against this then you have the option to remove them from the group!

If you’re aiming to fix engagement in your group, here are some tips you can follow to help fix things:

1) Review the content that you post. When you’re sharing posts to your group, you want to ensure that you’re posting quality content that is valuable to your audience. You need to make sure that you’re offering them something that feels exclusive. Of course, it is easier to reshare content from your Instagram and Facebook page but if you want to deepen the sense of community, it would be best to create special content that you use solely for the group.

Adding to this, it is beneficial to make sure that you aren’t posting too much content to where it can start to look ‘spammy’. This is detrimental as your followers will feel overwhelmed with content. Aim to try posting once every couple of days and see how the group responds!

2) Try not to over-promote – Of course using your group to sell your products is beneficial but doing this too frequently can ruin the authenticity of your group. Because you are creating a community, it is important to not make your followers feel like they are just potential customers. Make sure they feel valued and like you appreciate them because you do!

3) Be sure to make the boundaries in your group clear – If you fail to do this, it may be easier for disagreements to encounter between group members. As mentioned above, be sure to set a code of conduct so that monitoring the group would be an easy process.

4) Experiment with different types of posts – Sometimes posting certain content over and over again can get a little stagnant. Your followers may get bored with the same type of posts so it is important to switch it up. Why not experiment with doing static posts, graphics, photos, videos, and even Facebook Lives?
