- Growing an Instagram community that converts
20 September 2022
Of course, having Instagram followers is a vital and necessary tool for overall growth and engagement, but how do we focus on growing this into a community and potentially generating sales?
Growing an online community is important because it means that the likelihood of brand loyalty and consistent engagement is more prevalent!
By building a community, instead of feeling like potential customers, your followers will feel like they are part of the brand. A community is all about developing the connection between your audience and working to maintain that. Followers who feel like they are part of the brand are likely to actively participate in consuming your content. This means that when it comes to posting new content, a story, or even a reel, these people will be one of the first to respond and show their support.
How do I help to build a community?
As we know, people enjoy connecting with other humans. When it comes to Instagram, we are aware that there is at least one person behind the account. This might not work for everyone, but it may be worth removing the anonymity of the account and introducing the person or team behind the account. If this isn’t beneficial for your particular business, why not introduce key members of the team to the page in a ‘meet the team’ post, just so that followers are introduced and can even go on to ask further questions about particular members of staff? Humanizing your brand can help create a deeper connection between you and your community.
Another great tip to try would be reaching out to your followers directly and asking for what they want to see. A great way to do this is by creating a question feature on your IG stories which will let your followers give you their opinions. By doing this, you will be showing your followers that you care about them and are invested in giving them the best experience when interacting with you!
Another great way to build a community is by consistently creating quality content that is beneficial to your followers. If you can tap into a need that they may have, they are more likely to keep coming back and consuming your content. If you’re a catering brand that provides customers with beautiful food, most of the people that follow you are there to be inspired and to potentially try your recipes for themselves. Think about what you can offer your customers that will help them see the value in being a follower of your page.
Community hashtags are also an important feature to utilize! Be sure to create a branded hashtag that includes the name of your business. Not only could this encourage followers to use this hashtag if they interact with your services but it will make your business name look more important!
Lastly, be sure that you are responding to all of your comments and DM’s. If you don’t have this already, it may be worth having someone from your team look out for social media comments so they can reply quickly and help keep the conversation flowing.
These tips will be sure to help you grow your Instagram community and hopefully help you to generate sales or leads. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them below!
