Improving IG engagement – benchmarks, research and what works

So, now that you’ve got your IG page up and running, it’s time to get started on actually getting your content out there and working to maximise potential engagement! Luckily for you, were here to help you get started on some content that will be likely to get the desired results you’re looking for to grow your page.
It’s all about getting those organic likes, shares, and comments to help boost your engagement. Here’s how…
Create shareable and savable content:
When creating content, for every post you should be considering, what purpose does this solve for the consumer? Is the type of content you make educational or informative? Is it there to inspire or bring communities together? Or is it designed to showcase new products and services? Whatever content is necessary for the brand, you will also have to make sure it fills the need of the person seeing it. Some brands for example may benefit from creating infographic-style posts that are great for resharing. From your own experience on Instagram, we’re sure that you’ve seen how often people reshare things like graphics, quotes, and relatable memes, so keep that in mind for your brand’s content!
Host a giveaway:
This may not be beneficial for all businesses, but hosting a giveaway is a great way to boost engagement. Everyone loves a freebie right? If you make the giveaway look enticing this would be a great marketing tool. For this to work you will need to come up with a strategy that helps you to benefit. Many brands do this by creating a giveaway and to enter, their followers have to share the post to their personal stories and comment below 3 friends of their personal friend list who also must be following the account. This is a great way to get fast engagement. Be sure to make your competition authentic to your brand. Whether it’s a product, service, or experience that’s up for grabs – you’ll be racking up the engagement.
Use your IG stories to engage with your followers:
A great way to interact with your followers is to use IG stories to encourage your followers to interact with you. Why not try using the many Instagram stickers like the poll sticker or ask a question sticker which will hopefully get some responses? You can prompt your followers to ask you questions on a certain topic or you can open the floor entirely. It is a great way to help them feel connected to the page and every time you get a response it counts as engagement!
Use CTA’s on your posts, stories, and reels:
By featuring a call to action on your posts you will be hinting at the desired action to your audience. Be sure to ask a You could ask people to share their experiences about a certain thing or even get people to comment on what type of content they would like to see from you next. Another way to drive engagement with CTAs is by encouraging your audience to click the link in your Instagram bio. the authentic question at the end which is relevant to your post.
It’s important to do your research and see what works best for your audience. It may be worth doing some competitor analysis and seeing what works for similar businesses to yours. Once you have some ideas, you can try testing out some of these ideas for yourself and see what works.
