Instagram changes in 2022 – What you need to know?

17 September 2022

As you know, Instagram is always changing! The big bosses at the IG HQ are always sneaking in new updates and algorithms that can sometimes throw us off guard! It can be hard to stay up to date with all the changes, especially when it comes to content creation and trying to ensure that your engagement stays as consistent as possible!

Luckily for you, we’ve rounded up some of the changes that we have spotted so far. At least that way you are aware and can quickly make any changes or edits to your strategy!

1) Increased focus on reels:

As we are sure you have heard, Instagram announced that they will be focusing on reels and visual content and will be prioritizing that over standard image posts. This means that is essential to get your reel strategy organized so that you can increase your engagement.

2) One of the most obvious changes to Instagram is the change to layout:

Posts are now bigger and take up more of the screen, laid out in a 9:16 ratio. This
means that when it comes to posting photo content we have to be more aware of
how it will be affected. You may have to optimize your posts so that they still
look good on a viewer’s feed!

3) Grid pinning:

This new feature helps you to pin selected posts from your profile to the top of your grid. This means that you can either pin old posts that you would like to get more shine
as they’ll be more visible or you could pin the content that has the most engagement to the top.

4) Get a quote sticker:

The rollout of this sticker is a great function for those who sell a service or a product. This can be used on IG stories and when the viewer clicks it, they can directly ask for
a quote on how much the pictured service or product is! It is a great way to sell and promote indirectly and generate interest!

5) Making videos more accessible:

One great feature that Instagram has rolled out is Auto-generated Captions! This is a great feature as it means your content will be accessible to all people. Not only is
this is a great feature for those who are hearing impaired but it will also be great for those who don’t wish to play the sound of a video out loud.

6) Scheduling Instagram lives:

This is a great way to build anticipation for a live Instagram session. This way people will get notified when you go live so that they won’t miss the event! This feature is
great for brands who may be collaborating with an influencer or even brands who are giving a behind-the-scenes tour of something to their viewers.

We hope this post has provided you with some of the Instagram updates you need to know. If you have any further questions or if you would to go into more depth about any of the above, we’d be happy to help! Drop us a line!
