16 September 2022

Have you recently launched your own business or service? Maybe you’re looking to get down the path of being an online influencer. Luckily for you, in the current zeitgeist, we benefit from the online world being at our fingertips. With one click of a button, we can join new communities, like, share and so much more! But, let’s face it – to help increase the profile of your brand (or even yourself), you will need followers who actively consume your content!

If you’ve been stuck on the same number of followers for a while now or you’re simply just looking to strengthen your online community, in this helpful guide we’ll break down what you need to know and give you the tips you need to grow your page!

1. Establish what kind of quality content you want to produce and stick to a consistent schedule…

With social media, we are constantly consuming, so your posts really have to stand out. Once you have discovered your niche you can focus on what type of content your followers would respond well to. These days, Instagram is becoming more focused on video content, so you could experiment with reels. For example, if your business was about creating beautiful cakes, you could create a reel that showed the complete process. Or if you are an icing pro, you can take this chance to show off some of your amazing work! One good way to find out what your customers like is by checking out what your competition is posting, or what kind of imagery is used on the websites or blogs that are popular in your industry.

With creating content, it is essential that you are consistent and fresh. By posting regularly during the week (not too much or too little) your followers will frequently see you on the timeline so your posts will be in their minds and they will keep engaging.
Try and look out for any trending music or any style of posts/reels that people are doing a lot of and see how you could incorporate that into your business.

There are so many content options that you can try – standard photo posts, reels, lives, carousel posts, videos, stories, infographic-style posts – Have fun with it and get experimenting!

2. Think about how to get your content seen…

It’s all about creating content that provokes engagement. Content that can be shared easily really helps to promote and grow business. An example of this would be a fast fashion brand creating a post on its Instagram to promote competition. For the audience to enter the said
competition, they would have to share the post on their personal social media stories. This of course would promote the brand and competition to people that may not have been aware of them before.

The collaboration tool on Instagram will also be beneficial if you’re working with another brand or creator. Using this will share your content to both your own profile and theirs which will double your audience size and increase your overall reach!

Adding to all of this, it is important to interact with the community in that you want to build your brand. Try and find aspirational accounts that you would like your page to look like and start interacting with their posts or even some of their followers who may be
interested in the content you make!

Hashtags are also a great tool for helping to boost your content. It will be worth researching hashtags that are relevant to your brand and maybe even your local area to help your content reach the right people. For example, if you’re a London-based dentist, you may want to use hashtags like #CompositeBondingLondon. To find relevant hashtags, you’ll want to use a free online tool like IconoSquare or Webstagram to start.

3. Cross-promote your content…

If you happen to be a TikTok star or maybe you rack up pretty decent numbers on your personal Youtube account, it will be worth promoting your content across different platforms. If you’ve just posted a reel on your Instagram – why not share it on TikTok? Chances are you’ll reach a new set of eyes and you can also promote your Instagram feed on TikTok. Being a brand that is active and visible on social media is a good thing and will only help your overall presence!

4. Consider the use of social media influencers or ambassadors…

If you’re a brand that sells products, it may be worth partnering with an
influencer and developing a strategy that will help to boost your brand. For this, you will need to research what kind of influencer you want to work with. For maximum authenticity, they have to align with the overall message of your brand. For example, if you sell handmade baby clothes, you could partner with a ‘mumfluencer’. Depending on their overall following and engagement, they could help to boost your post and vice versa!

5. Use CTA’s…

The use of CTAs will help you to direct the audience to a certain action! A call
to action is like a gentle suggestion on how the user should interact with your
content. This can be liking the photo, commenting, adding thoughts, or sharing
it in their stories. By adding in a call to action, people are roughly 25% more
likely to follow through on that action than without it.

Some great examples of this would be “tag your friends who would like this,” or
“double tap if you agree.” Always give your followers something to do. This
helps your account spread like wildfire and increase your reach!
